Highlighting is a process used with foils to lighten a person’s natural hair-color into a lighter shade. There are many colors to lighten a person’s natural color: blonde, lighter red, and lighter brown. Each transforms a person’s dull, dingy natural color into a rich, shiny, lighter shade combined with a person’s natural color. Highlighting adds dimension and depth.
Low-lighting is the same process (used with foils as well) to add dimension and depth by using a darker or “deeper” color to a person’s natural hair-color. This process is used on blondes or lighter natural red-haired clients that want to have a more natural color. Again, low-lighting provides more depth and dimension, as opposed to a look that is “too blonde” or a faded red — which tends to make a person look washed out — in addition to making either the red or the blonde shade look un-natural or “colored”.
Len’s Highlighting and Low-lighting specialist training comes from some of London’s top colorists, as well as from Toni and Guy’s training facility located in Southern California.
Len was voted Best Color and Highlight Specialist on Citysearch in 2006, and was the Color educator to his assistants at Len’s former hair salon - Utopia Salon.
Len uses the Wella color line exclusively which leaves his client’s chemically-addicted hair feeling soft, natural and shiny. |
